Here, I would like to share my  PR journey 

After a long struggle I recieved my  permanent resident card

Finally, I am proud to be a permanent resident of Canada.
In recent months I started recieving many queries regarding PR process.. So I felt like I should share my experience/journey since thought of applying !!

Myself Dentist,trying to appear for license exams in canada for past few years and i started applying for visitng visa which got rejected thrice.out of frustration I thought to give up ,but in corner of my mind it always boggled me that i have to settle in canada .After few months I started doing research on canada PR in various sites especially Canada visa forum[https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/] which helped me to acquire lot of information to get prepared.

I will just brief you regarding steps for getting pr

steps for applying for Canada PR through Express Entry

The steps to obtaining a Permanent Residence through the Canada Express Entry pool are as follows

Step 1: Complete your Language ability Tests
One of the primary requirements for Express Entry is proof of language ability. You will need to take the IELTS for proving your ability to communicate effectively in English language. You can also give a relevant French language test such as Test de evaluation de Francians (TEF) to further improve your ranking.

Step 2:  Create a profile for Express Entry
You will need to create a profile for yourself online on the IRCC website in order to initiate the process for your Express Entry

Step 3:  Complete your ECA
If your education was completed outside of Canada then it is advisable to complete an Education credentials assessment. Completing an ECA can provide an additional 150 points to your Comprehensive Ranking Score.

Step 4: Apply for Provincial Nomination (optional)
You can also opt to apply for one of the various provincial nomination programs that are managed by the different provinces within Canada. If successfully selected for provincial nomination, you can get an additional 600 points on your score.

Step 5: Get an invitation to apply.
Once your application is approved and scores the threshold CRS score in the Express Entry draw, you will receive an Invitation to Apply. Once you receive an ITA you will need to submit a completed application within the next 90 days.

Step 6: complete medical and criminal background checks
You will need to complete a health checkup with a Doctor from a qualified panel of Doctors approved by Canada immigration authority and submit the same to the IRCC. Additionally, you will need to obtain a Police Clearance Certificate from each city you have resided in for more than six months on a continuous basis in the past.
Step 7:  Application is reviewed by Canada immigration officer
During this step, you will not have any active part, but your application will be reviewed by an immigration officer. You should be ready however, to furnish any additional requirement if requested, during this stage.

Step 8: You will receive confirmation of PR status
During this step you will get confirmation of your permanent resident status. You can get your application processed faster under certain categories. For example. If you apply under the Canadian Experience Class your application will be processed as early as 3 to 4 months. You will receive a COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence) card at this step.

Step 9:   Apply for your PR card.
Congratulations! This is the last step for your Canada immigration process and you are now qualified to travel to Canada. You will need to apply for your PR card and can use it travel in and out of Canada as you please

My journey towards reaching  goal 

We are three applicants (my spouse ,2 months baby  & I) applied for federal express entry 

We submitted our application in January 2018 and recieved our PR with in 5 months 

[Hurdle 1 ]  Ielts

 As you can see i am not good at succeding overseas visa and stuff ,this time i took wise decision ; )  ;))   i asked my wife  to be main applicant ,as she is younger and I also hoped  she can do   better than me  in getting good score in IELTS . .as It is not mandatory to have your spouse take the IELTS if main applicant  gets required score,. dependent applicants just need basic ielts score which may increase a bit of CRS ,if so  and  then consider entering hypothetical IELTS scores for your spouse, we both s started to collect material and focused on  preparation for 1 month  and after her successful 3 attempts she  got required score of 470.

[Behind the scene ] she took  2  attempts ,while in last attempt she missed  borderline  in  writing module.,we thought of  appealing for revaluation and everyone said no point of doing  revaluation and its total waste of money ,despite though, we tried our luck  and   succesfully  got the required  score at levels of  8–7–7–7 (Listening, reading, writing, speaking respectively), which are mor than enough  to compete in the pool. Anything less than this, will cost you tonnes of points

My idea of applying was in october  2017 and I began to collect & organize documents That being said, 

· Photograph of the principal applicant

· Medical certificate

· Police clearance certificates

· Character Certificates

· Passport and other travel documents (along with copies)

· Work experience letter (Letter of Recommendation)

· Proof of funds (for FSW stream)

· Proof age

· Proof of language proficienc

0n December 2017 Its almost  time to  create an Express Entry profile and enter the pool of candidates. I waited for the next Canada Express Entry draw that is conducted approximately every 15 days ,draw was happened and requiredd  eligibility score was 458 [you can find about your CRS score in www.cic.gc.ca, which is official govt website ]Once your profile is submitted and deemed eligible, you will be automatically given a score under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) based on the information provided when you created your Express Entry profile  Only the most competitive candidates receive ITAs.

After getting an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the Canadian Government you get 90 days time period to revert back with your application along with relevant documents and PR fees, Biometrics fees, etc.

[Hurdle 2]

my wife [main applicaant]documents are ready. myself,i have due to get  police clearance certificate which i need to get from georgia[Europe]its toublesome for me as i had no option other than flying there to apply ,i also have limited time to submit .luckily i found acquainted friend back from college on facebook ,and requested her to apply on behalf of me or else i had been doomed ,she charged 500 USD.[she knows i have no other option]

on other hand.my 2 months baby obviously needs passport . so we applied for passport and  she got it with in 1 month .

[Hurdle 3]

Started saving money in your bank account as Proof of Funds
As part of the PR process, Canadian immigration rules require you to have sufficient funds to manage your living expenses when you first arrive. we are family of 3 members ,and we need  19,092 CAD Through the PR process, applicants need to prove that they have the necessary funds in their bank account. For more details on the amount, type of funds, etc >> Proof of funds - Skilled immigrants (Express Entry)In case you don’t have the sufficient funds, consider saving the required funds in your bank account at the same time you decide to apply for PR. Its best to show a gradual accumulation of funds in your account, rather than sudden, bulk transfer

 finally  I am done with all the requirements and filled in application form with supporting docs

Officially its 6 months waiting period to get pr, but some may took 1 year depends on documentation

From that day it took 2 weeks to get my application updated and I joined many whatsapp discussions groups on pr stages. Everyone is tensed ,excited on sharing their updates day by day..

Days are filled with excitement, fun... And we all learnt to have patience.

We are so curious to know the updates every night and day, we just focused on updates of each others and shared our thoughts,future endeavours

Waiting goes on ...and it continued for another 2 months .mind is filled and fluctuated between positivity and fear .there are times where i experienced sleepless nights ,that some thing  wrong with documentation may happened  or what if ....these negative thoughts were hard to digest .days passed on with checking e mails and whatapp chatting , kept on refreshing emails and looking at phone every day and night.

but still no updates since last update 2months back .

one fine day i recieved update on requiring additional documents  from CIC .it  about my visit to foreign countries and history of travel,updated with in 7 days and again waiting began.....

out of curiosity & unable to bear the waiting period I ordered GCMS[The GCMS notes are the only accurate way of providing a detailed record of an applicant's file, including detailed notes on the progress of your application, your case history from the day you have applied for your visa which also includes officers' analysis, reasoning and notes of your file at each stage]I recieved update from GCMS after 3 weeks of applying & it seems all is well

. 

after 4 months of applying ,On may  2018 I I received an email saying permanent residence approved and required to submit my passport for stamping 

LIFE TRANSFORMATION MAIL.

It's ultimate day in my life!!!!!!!!
 hard work, excitement and patience pays it..

After getting the PR visa, we are supposed to complete our 'record of landing', on or before the Visa Expiry Date [mentioned on the visa]. The visa Expiry Date is related to EITHER*:
a) 1yr. from the meds, or 
b) Passport expiry date of the PA or anyone of his/her accompanying Dependents
*Whichever of the above 2 is earlier.

WHO SHOULD LAND FIRST:
It is the obligation of the PA to 'land' first. Which can be 'alongwith' one or more or all the accompanying family members. Let it be clear that the PA's dependents CANNOT land first.

PROCEDURE AT THE POE:
Irrespective of which city we chose to land, the 'landing' per se, is a simple process. Before debarking the a/craft we'll be provided with a 'Disembarkation Card/Form'. We take that form & first go to the 'Passport Control'. 

At the Passport Control:
Here we need to inform the IO that we have come to do our 'landing'. The IO will check our Disembarkation Card and our passport/s & visa. S/he will then direct us to "Newly Landed Immigrants' Counter". 

At the Immigration Counter:
The IO here will scrutinize our Passport/s & COPRs. He would [sometimes may not] ask to see our POF. Most of the times the officer will not count the 'actual' money & accept what we say. But, no false pretensions there. S/he will then fill some portions of the COPR & ask us to sign it, wherein it'll be attached on our passport. We'll be asked to fill-in the 'PR Card Application Form' & give an address where our PR cards will be forwarded within 3-6 weeks. Thereby, s/he would 'Welcome us to Canada' and direct us to another office.

At the Services Canada Office:
The Services Canada section is for assisting the Newcomers' settlement moves. Here we'll get lots of books/pamphlets, that'll provide all the crucial info on Canada and our Settlement plan here. From here will be directed to the CBSA counter.

At the CBSA [Customs] Office:
This is an important location. We are required to present (1) List of Items Accompanying; (2) List of Goods to Follow; (3) Currency Declaration [We'd have to 'declare' any amount of $10K or more]. Lists-1 & 2 must be brought in 2 copies, one would be retained by CBSA and the 2nd copy will be returned back to us. We'll need the 2nd copy when our shipments come-in. 

Note: [1] If we are not bringing-in any goods later, we don't need the 'goods to follow list'. [2] At a random the CBSA might 'actually' check the POF here. Thus, no complacency is acceptable. [3] If there are 'jewelry' involved, do not forget to bring 'Printed Photographs' of the same (details later). 

BTW: All the officers are extremely friendly, very understanding, cheerful and helpful. We'll encounter 'Welcome to Canada' many a times. If all the docs are pre-printed & available with us; and there is not much of a queue, we will be out of the a/port in 40mins-1hr. flat. Which includes the walk-distance, baggage collection etc.

Protip: I suggest taking a free mock IELTS test to actually check how much you score. Your entire application may rest on the laurels of your language abilities, so I would give particular attention to this.

Another ProTip: If your spouse is younger than you, or has higher educational credentials, then please let them be the primary applicant instead.
